Streamlight cheap out. It no longer comes with the housing assembly, instead they expect you to use your old one. The new assembly is made from cheap parts, but they are still charging the same. The quality of the New assembly at most cost them 10 dollars. Disappointing. That is when happens when a company become greedy, money over quality.

First, I didn’t receive what I expected – only got the bulb/lens assy. Did NOT include the swivel head/housing, as pictured. Misleading pictures, at best. My Lightbox has cracked swivel head housing, so I justified the cost of this as an upgrade, plus repair.
installation was an easy enough swap out.
Second disappointment is relative brightness. given 6 C4 LEDs, I expected this to be MUCH brighter than it is on high setting. I have another Streamlight with a single C4 that is far brighter than this with 6x the LEDs.

Item was delivered earlier within the delivery range window. As mentioned by another reviewer, the upgrade is straightforward if you’re fairly comfortable taking things apart and making modifications. To also mention it should be advertised somewhere that the buyer will definitely require a pair of wire cutters, crimpers and strippers to perform the modification. I also used a flat head screwdriver to gently separate the rubber ring from the lens and swivel head body in order to get my fingers under the rubber to remove the ring. Was not too bad. The small accompanying instruction sheet could have been larger and addition of a few additional steps would help guide the reader during the modification. During the final modification steps, I crimped the new connectors onto the wires, and partially slid the wire jacks onto the blade connectors and turned on the light switch. Turns out I had to swap the wire connections between the 2 blades connections for the light to work (discussed on the instruction sheet). I then pushed the connectors down firmly onto the blades making the final snug connection. The final result was great. The flood light is bright and it covers a fairly wide area. Goal was to not have to change the halogen bulb every couple of years. Will provide future usage review once I see how it performs.

Pros-
solidly made, what you would expect for a lightbox product
install is pretty easy, directions are quite good
a nice flood patter of light
Cons
A little disappointed with the light output I would have though for the size of the battery this thing would last quite a long time, and or produce a huge amount of light. I have mine set on high output. The light is good but not mind blowing, I have a Stanley fat max light that is a lot stronger than this ( but has a lot less runtime and a Lipo battery)
you can not switch from low to high output without taking it apart. If they sell enough of these they may add that as a feature. I have though about making my own, but that seems like kind of a hassle.

I don’t know how well this light does in the rain. it does seem like water could get in pretty easily. I will probably test that before I decide to get the spot version for my other light

newer design, the old one replaced the entire light head of the lightbox. this one inserts into the existing light head like the headlight of a car replacing the reflector and bulb. simple jumper i.e. like a hard drive 3 pin with a plug to jumper hi power 8 hour? or low power 16 hour? looks like it would fit a vulcan, but different run times, I will test it when I get a strap wrench to unscrew mine. very different size from the originals. but same face pattern. mine is a dual filament bulb with a dual action toggle switch to select. if the one side burns out switch to the other one to keep going. I wonder if I could do a low power, high power setup using the existing switch?
