This is a great flashlight and has the unique sliding clear diffuser that provides broader area illumination. The diffuser slides easily over or away from the lighting elements in use.
I have also purchased other variants of the Streamlight Sidewinder for different color applications. In particular, I was looking for a red LED version for night time use to protect the eye’s low light sensitivity.

This is a very nice light, there is a decent amount of light and multiple types of batteries can be used, CR123, AA and AAA.
The light has a white, green, blue and IR led as described in the product specifications.

There are a handful of versions with different colored LEDs and with or without a diffusing lens. This one, with a diffusing lens along with a large white, and smaller green, blue, and infrared LEDs, is designed to help you bring in a fixed wing or chopper by swinging it around on a lanyard with the green LED illuminated as a target. Without the diffusing lens, an aircraft couldn’t see it.
Other versions come with different accessories, such as a helmet mount. Again, look carefully to ensure you are getting the features that you need.

One of the selling points for me was that it takes 2 kinds of batteries. Just received it. Looks like it will work well. I did not realize this one does not have a red light option but that’s ok.
