   Stream light makes quality lights for skill tradesmen. This headlamp cost more than your regular headlamp from a department store but well worth it. It comes with rubber strap for hard hat or elastic for your head. I use the elastic strap. This light is super bright! If you’re climbing in a tight spot, having a hands free bright light is important. Lots of adjustment to have light aimed in the right spot. I will say again, super bright beam! The downside to this is that it uses an odd (to me) battery size. Totally worth the trade off to have such a bright light. Good build quality, this will be my last headlamp purchase, it’s that good.

   I’ve used headlamps for years for my job. But this one seems to be VERY durable, but if you leave it on high for long, it will get hot on your forehead and your batteries won’t last long. Use medium or low if you can. Get extra batteries !

   Very disappointing. I bought this because I had the last model of the pro tac and it was bad to the bone. The quality has slipped a LOT. the button would work sometimes and sometimes not. The batteries would not last long enough for a single op. After only about a month, it gave out and I never could get it to come back on. For the price and the reputation of stream light, one would expect MUCH better performance and quality control. Don’t buy this one. I bought the Next model up for around $110 and it is the BOSS.

   I have used this light for 8 years and it has never failed me. I have used it to night ride my bicycle for which it is plenty bright enough. With regular 123 batteries I get about 1-1.5 hours at full power. Using rechargeable batteries I get about 45 mins at full power. My only complaint is that Streamlight rechargeable battery pack doesn’t fit in light. Unlike a new protac headlight I bought this one has never failed to perform.

   This is all I ever need. Low lasts forever (36 hours) and is usually enough light to work with. On high, it’s bright everywhere. Been dropped 500-1000 times I would say. Frame finally busted after years of daily use, light works fine. Buy it. I did, again.

    We bought three for our family’s camping bags; they all worked perfectly out of the box and feel solid and reliable. The grip is aggressive enough to provide solid control even if wet, and the gaskets were all in good working order. The straps work well, although I do not have a helmet to check the rubber helmet bands; they do feel high quality and provide good grip when wet.

    The one issue I have is the multi-function selector switch: you only have one button to turn on the flashlight and control the brightness setting. To activate the different brightness setting, you have to quickly (.5 sec) press the button (light) on and off, which is difficult given how strong the button is. If you are intentionally trying to press the button as fast as possible, you MAY be able to get it to the correct brightness setting eventually, but it isn’t something that will happen easily. There is a way to reprogram the light so that the default changes from high/low to low/high (and strobe is in there too I think), but is needlessly more difficult than cheaper lights that cycle brightness settings (low-high-off).
