   These are a short term cheaper fix for a stinger that has a burnt out bulb. They go without warning, so if you are not going to upgrade to a LED for your flashlight, you better keep a few of these on hand, and you should practice changing them out in the dark and under stress. Best bet is to go out to your cattle in the middle of the night and have people whooping it up around them while someone sprays you with a hose. Throw some barking dogs into the mix, or a skunk and you should get proficient enough to keep these on hand. You need to carry these with you all the time when you are using your flashlight. Mine went over four years working perfectly and then suddenly went without being dropped or giving any warning.

   If you have grown accustomed to using LED flashlights, then this old-style replacement bulb may not “wow” you, to say the least, in your older model Ultra Stinger. The performance of this bulb is a short cast of very yellow light, providing minimal lighting. I tried this bulb in my older model Ultra Stinger, (for which the bulb is designed), with both my used battery stick, and a brand new one that I just purchased here on streamlightoutlet.com. I see absolutely no difference in the very poor performance from this bulb with either of the fully-charged battery sticks. The beam is equally dim, yellow, and without range with either battery. My Ultra Stinger still looks as though it is brand new. It has been well cared for with minimal usage. I can’t fault the flashlight. I can only attribute the very poor performance of this replacement bulb to either the bulb quality it’s self, or to the possibility that both older and new battery sticks are somehow defective. The latter does not seem likely.

   In my opinion Streamlight makes the most durable reliable lights for professionals available. I do inspection work and the light from the UltraStinger is amazing. However, the one problem I have is the short time between charges with the halogen bulb. Would be great if there was a LED replacement bulb for the UltraStinger to increase the life between charges.
