   This sleeve is an original replacement. I read other reviews that have different method of installing the sleeve but none worked for me. So out of frustration, I had an idea. Insert the sleeve in boiling water and submerge it entirely for 5 to 10 minutes to soften it. While you wait for it to heat up and soften, lube the flashlight tube with soapy water and pure dishwashing soap immediately before installing it. If you don’t, it’ll dry up on the metal. Take out the sleeve from the water, and squeeze it from the middle as you insert the flashlight. It should stretch easier and slide better. Lube the metal as needed as you push the sleeve in untill installed completly. Dry the excess water and soap and done! I hope this helps.

   I have an older Streamlight stinger and for some reason I had to shave a couple of millimeters off so that it would fit. My light is about 13 years old and the grip finally cracked and gave out. The tolerances on this one are tight and it looks great and works very well.

   I found an old Stinger DS LED in a packed tub in my garage that had not been opened after we moved. The rubber sleeve had become dry and split. Due to the quality of Streamlight Stinger flashlights, I wanted to save this light if possible. I found this OEM replacement sleeve on streamlightoutlet.com and ordered it. The install was easy enough, but definitely use some dish soap or similar to assist because it is a very tight fit and isn’t going to go on easily if you don’t. After getting it installed, I allowed it to sit for a day or two to insure the dish soap had dissipated and now the light is like new again. the sleeve is firm and just like the original, you would never know its been replaced. Highly recommended if your is in need of replacement.

    This is a genuine ‘Streamlight’ replacement part. My original grip began falling apart, after over 10 years of daily use (and abuse). I can see why some buyers mention it was hard to put on…but I found an easier trick to put it on. It took me 1-2 minutes. The instructions mention to use dish soap and water on the rubber sleeve. I just put the dish soap on my fingers and put a few drops of water on the soap (just enough to make it runny). Then I put it on the rubber sleeve. Then I did the same to the metal tube of the flashlight. Then, with the help the back of a long tea-spoon, I was able to slip the sleeve over the metal flashlight tube (kind of like using a shoe horse to put shoes on). Once you get it on, work it down an inch or so. Then, using a dry dish towel, grip the rubber sleeve and work it down. If you need to add more soap/water to the metal, I did this about half way down. Done! Only time will tell if it lasts another 10 years now. Very satisfied!!!

    I have used Streamlight Stingers since they came out an have replaced about every part on them that can be. These are good quality long lasting factory parts, but they do wear out after much use. Luckily they are easy to replace. 1. Take off the tail cap and remove the battery and finish removing the old grip if its not already off. Simply use a knife to carefully cut through thin rubber grip, being careful not to cut the aluminum body underneath. 2. Clean the factory lubricant off the light with a warm wet cloth, until its nice and shiny. 3. Get a few drops of dish soap to put a thin coating over the silver aluminum where the new grip will go. 4. Get some very warm water nearly boiling and some tongs to hold the rubber grip under water for a minuet or a little longer. 5. Once the rubber has expanded from the warm water you should be able to slide it right on to the light within seconds. 6 Make sure and clean up any soap that may come out and if the light is damp, let it fully dry before putting it back together.

    It’s an OEM part so no complaints about quality. The gripsleeve on my extremely old Polystinger disintegrated over time with exposure to extreme temperature conditions. I easily peeled it off prior to applying this new one. My experience installing it was as follows. Do not disassemble flashlight if your installing on Polystinger as per their included instructions. First clean the body to get the dirt and grit off. Then lube the sleeve real good with soapy water to keep it slippery on the inside. Also put a light coat on the flashlight body as well. I made the mistake of warming up the sleeve to much which made it more difficult to insert because it was too soft. It needs to remain slightly ridgid to insert the streamlight shaft inside. Leaving the flashlight endcap on and holding sleeve by its end, start turning the sleeve clockwise until you can get it to completely grab on the endcap. Lube base and inside sleeve again if it goes dry. Then use a towel to grip around sleeve and begin turning it in clockwise until it is seated at top groove. You can leave the excess length of sleeve on at the end as I chose {pictured} or easily trim to fit with a knife or razor. Dry it off and the Stinger is ready to pierce the darkness once again.

    Read the instructions and after three tries with soaping both the flashlight barrel and sleeve I couldn’t push it any further down than half way. You’ll tear your flashlight up before you get this sleeze on. Had water and soap everywhere. I had to cut the new sleeve off as it wouldn’t come off either. Don’t waste your time or money with replacing, just stick with a smooth barrel or wrap some tennis racket tape around it!
