If you actively do landnav often, or use a separate infrared monocular, this is probably the best headlamp option out there. Sturdy, IR, adaptable brightness, can change the angle for map reading. I would say it is worth the price, but if its just going to sit in a drawer or a rucksack most of the year you would be better off with a cheaper one.

I required a new headlamp with a similar feature set. After much research and comparisons, I purchased Streamlight 14513 Sidewinder Compact II Military Model Angle Head Flashlight, Headstrap and E-Mount Kit – 47 Lumens. It does exactly as advertised. It’s easy to operate, even while gloved. The brightness and features are perfect. I was also very glad that I didn’t have to settle on a light that was just an internally sealed battery with the BS usb charging.
