   As the headline says this light package does what is supposed to do. Easy to rotate the light option knob and the ON/OFF button is good quality. Do not have the means to test the IR light yet.

   Body is very weak. I can see why its meant for some branches but not most. Due to the types of vibrations or impacts it can easily disconnect itself from the body or clip. Rendering itself useless which is a no go in the field. definitely would save the money for a better version in the far future or more of another branded quality.

   I took the full sized version to Afghanistan with me when I was deployed over there. That worked great but this one is even better. First it is smaller. Second, it is mountable on the Wilcox mount of a helmet. Third, it has an IR lamp built in. Out here on the ranch, I use night vision often at night and so the IR lamp and the IR safe blue lamp are used often. I also like that it uses either 123 lithium batteries or AA batteries.

   This is a surprisingly great little light!

   I was leery of the relatively low max output (55 lm white), but the beam is shaped and concentrated with a narrow hot-spot and diffuse surround that maximize the use of these lumens. I took it with me for a 6-day jaunt in central OR, and brought my other (~300 lm) BD headlamp ‘just in case’. Never needed the spare – the sidewinder provided all of the light that I needed for any situation. The auxiliary LEDs are also well-collimated; I use the red a lot to avoid night blindness, and the single 5mm red emitter on this light outperforms the dual red emitters on my other headlamp under most circumstances by virtue of providing a tighter beam.

   I also like that it starts at low power from turn-on, rather than max, since that’s what I need most of the time. The head strap is quite effective, although it could use a little more padding against the forehead, and the clip + mount system is also very functional. Lots of options for attaching this thing to one’s body or gear.

   I like this new helmet light. It’s not like the surefire one that mounts to the side and you can never see what your doing until you turn to the side. This light does everything i need it to. My only complaint that I may have is the NVG mount is plastic and it may in the future if struck hard enough break, the pictures make it out to be painted metal, so just keep your NVG mount stored until ready to use.

   As advertised. Military Gear. Hard to go wrong. I have two. One on headband. One to switch between rail on AK and NGV mount on Ballistic Helmet. Not super bright. I have an 800 lumen Nightstick for That. (Cop lite) I got it for the Red/Blue tactical lights and to have a less bright light. 4 levels of bright/dim. A cop light can also get one shot. Center Mast on light or laser usually does the trick. Yes, I Did sharpie my Helmet Front Center mount Black.

   This is a great light. However I purchased this product specifically for the mount that is pictured with the intent of keeping the light as a backup. When the product arrived, it came with a completely different mounting bracket. If the mounting bracket is not a concern, this is a great light that is durable, works in all weather, has IR capability.
