   Seems tough, typical streamlight quality. Tail switch is very positive. I bought this along with the rubber helmet band for my fire helmet. Only gripe is, it’s not very bright, even for a helmet light to be used in smoke, this thing is really dim. I’ll bet the run time on the 4 AAs is phenomenal due to this fact. It’ll work, just don’t expect a far throw at all. This is for up close work.

   This light fixes the problem most LED flashlights have, which is poor battery life. I’ve had lights go out on me with fresh batteries after only 3-4 hours of use. This one claims to go on for 155 hours. I haven’t tested that outright, but it easily lasts all day several days in a row. It isn’t the brightest light, but for most applications you don’t need a throw of 200 yards or a 400 lumen hot spot. You need a light that doesn’t burn out in 2 hours or drain itself dead while its in your bag. This is that light.

   I absolutely LOVE these flashlights. They are extremely bright, the batteries last forever, and they are TOUGH as hell. I keep one on my helmet (with the Streamlight strap), and I have several others multiple other places. They are my go-to flashlight for every purpose. Keep one in my pack, one in the truck, one in the garage. Speaking to their toughness: Not only are they waterproof, but I can personally attest that they will stand up to even the most grueling conditions. Mine has stood up to a 600-degree fire situation (1000 degrees at the fire when we started to get some serious rollover, 600 where I was, according to our TIC), and only a small amount of melting happened to the rubber on the front of the light. It still completely works, and never shut off. Love these Streamlights, and I will trust them in any situation.

   Excellent flashlight. Bright. Uses standard AA batteries that aren’t expensive. At this point I have several of these. One in every vehicle and a few around the house. The oldest must be over 10 years old at this point. All I’ll buy now is Streamlight. And they’re lifetime warranty is the best. If you ever have an issue, just send it in and they’ll repair or replace it for free, no hassle.

   My first experience with this flashlight came when I found it abandoned in a ceiling. I replaced the batteries and was really surprised at how bright it was. It made a home on my tool belt for several months before the light would intermittently turn on and off. I decided I wouldn’t judge it based on that, since I didn’t know how worn it was when I found it. I bought another one, it worked great, then the same thing started happening.

   This time I put a little more effort into figuring out what was wrong, and what I found was the contact points on the batteries were actually being dented by the flashlight, causing bad contact with the prongs. Rotating the batteries around like you would tires on your car prolongs their usage, or you can just replace them and the problem is solved. I don’t know if it’s because I walk too much, climb too many stairs, take off my tool belt too hard, or if the flashlight just crunches the batteries but that’s why I gave it 4 stars.

   Also, cosmetically the rubber on the head of the flashlight will eventually peel off with hard use but does not affect the function.

    This flashlight is a great buy for the $20 or so I paid for it here. It has done a few weeks in my tool bag with about 70lbs of tools on top of it and it’s still going strong. I’ve had it in the rain and even dropped it off of a 12ft ladder onto concrete and it hasn’t even flickered.
