   I read a lot of reviews giving this negative remarks because they thought it had a IR laser which it does not. It a IR illuminator which is a IR flashlight. Before I bought this I was using a Surefire M952V which is white light and IR light. I considered that to be the best white/IR light made. I then bought the streamlight and my mind was quickly changed. The streamlight white light is far brighter and larger then the Surefire and the IR light is also much brighter and better then the Surefire. I was a Surefire supporter big time but now all my ARs and pistols have the streamlight TLR VIR. One possible issue is with mounting it on some pistol rails. It doesn’t fit my Sig Pro so the locking bar locks into the pistols rail but it can still be mounted and tightened with the lights knob. If you dont need the Tapeswitch on your pistol ask streamlight to send you just a regular TLR back plate with no switch plug and then it will lock in perfectly on a pistols rail.

   White LED light is solid just like any other Streamlight. I bought it more for the IR light to use with my Armasight Spark Core NVG. The IR is ok but without the ability to focus it projects more of a square shape at approx 30 yards. Fairly light weight and I like the CR123 batteries. Again for the price it isn’t bad.

   The caption says that it is a White LED with IR Laser tactical light. It is for pistols or long guns. After I opened the box and installed the batteries, I was disappointed that laser had such a big pattern. Fine print in the manual did indicate that it was a IR LED illumination. It works really well, but I don’t need a white light IR LED combination. I have several TLR-2 tactical lights. I was also disappointed that the light would not mount to a Glock 21 or 23. The Streamlight website indicates it will fit a full size handgun. The rail key is to far forward to fit. The tail cap is too large for it to move back far enough. The only thing this tactical light will fit is a long gun with a 1913 rail

   I sent it back for a refund.

   Not satisfied at all. First of all, it looks very cheap; second, it isn’t bright like it said on the product description. IR Illuminator is useless for me. I’m regret!!

   When I saw the list price and then the discounted price on this I had to comment- The IR illuminator is visible with out NVG’s. the light it shines is not but you can see the LED when in use. Still a solid Streamlight LED light just not something you would want if you were worried about concealment.
