   First of all, let me just say I ordered the TLR-3 Monday, November 23 (Thanksgiving week) around 8pm (after hours). The confirmation stated Friday as an approx delivery date, but I received my order on Wednesday morning on the 25th. One day shipping during a holiday week? Un-FREAKING-heard of! Thanks! MOUNTING: The TLR-3 fit perfectly on my Smith & Wesson SD9VE that I have as my nightstand weapon. The kit has several “adaptor plates” included in order to insure a snug fit on a plethora of various handguns. After a few moments of reading the instructions, unscrewing the mounting screw, and inserting the correct rail adaptor, the TLR-3 mounted firmly to my weapon in a matter of seconds. It was literally a +/-2 minute job, no exaggerations. FUNCTIONALITY: The light is SUPER bright for such a small, lightweight light. For operation, the TLR-3 has a momentary rocker switch that has a momentary and fixed “on” position. I have large hands, so the switch actuator arm is in the perfect position for index finger operation and is easy enough to turn on for momentary use. For the “fixed on”, it takes a little more pressure to activate, but it’s nothing that I wasn’t used to in the first 5 minutes of getting familiar with the light. LIGHT BEAM: The center focal point of the TLR-3 is close to 3′ at a distance of 18-20′ from a backdrop, which in my circumstances is perfect, as I don’t have a room in my house larger than 20′. Looking down the sights of my SD9VE with the light on, it appears as though the shot placement will be around 6-8″ higher than the center of the focal point at 18-20′. I wouldn’t advocate this without a lot of practice, but using the beam as a focal point for shot placement would definitely be something to try out on a range in low light conditions in case you migh happen to have close combat or “draw & discharge” situations. Definitely become familiar with TLR-3 usage as much as possible beforehand, especially since your life might be on the line. CONCLUSIIN: I would definitely recommend giving this little bad boy a chance. For home defense, I don’t think you could do ANY better. Troy 46/M/TX

   I installed this on my Sig SP2022. I did install the correct adapter and is easy to take on and off. Feels solid. This light has a hot center and will facilitate shooting quickly if the need ever comes up. Just put the hot spot on your target and you are good to go. I love the way it throws the light and is plenty bright for sure. No need to spend a ton of money buying the more expensive lights, his one is all that is needed. My Sig requires the E insert. That insert will also work on the Picatinny rails on my AR. I like that I can use this light on either gun. I’ve been using this light on my pistol for several weeks. It is a pleasure to use, and the quality of this item is excellent. The beam is throws is solid, by that I mean there are no distracting outer edge circles that I have on cheaper lights. It’s just a pure strong center then the halo around is evenly distributed and allows you to see the surrounding area. I use it on my HD pistol and I no longer need a flashlight now, because I’ve got something better that a standard flashlight. I have been using this and testing it constantly for a couple of weeks and the batteries are holding up better than expected. I hope that after the new wears off and I quit constantly messing with it, that the batteries stay good and not trickle drain as I’ve read about on other similar items. Only time will tell unless someone out there has experience with this particular light. Some of the other lights stick out past the muzzle. This light on my 4 inch barrel is just about flush so I don’t have to worry about muzzle blast messing this one up. I love the compact size of this light. I would give this 6 stars if I could.

   I attached this light with the assistance of a Nickel (not tool installation is a feature), to the bottom of my 5.25″ Springfield XDM. The light fits perfectly. The light can be used in two modes, continuous on and temporary on by simply rocking the switch either clockwise or counter-clockwise respectively. The switch mechanism is sturdy and feels really good to the touch. The overall light construction is extremely durable. I am impressed. Is it bright? Yeah…I’m pretty sure when I shined it up in the air that alien lifeforms mistook it for a distant star. Okay, that might not be true, but I use this light for home defense and it will absolutely light even a large room completely with a very bright, white light. Clearing hallways and small rooms is not an issue. Being on the other end of this light would be blinding to say the least. Outdoor performance is excellent as well and the Streamlight casts a great field of view. Will easily light up a small yard. Pics show it mounted on my XDM as well as 20 foot projection in bedroom, showing both long light and center beam brightness. Love this light! Will be buying other products from Streamlight for sure!

   This one was installed on an HK P2000 and the results I’m generally pleased. This is a low profile compact that doesn’t stick way out like the TLR-1 does if placed on this pistol. Having the light extend beyond 3/4″ is a bit much so this model fits appropriately and extends 1/2″ from the muzzle. For HD uses which this pistol is set-up for the output is appropriate in my situation. At 25′ indoors the hot spot is about 4′ and corona approximately 9’+ diameter. The keys in application for the HK don’t sit fully within the notch, about 1/4 way in but it does maintain position so that I’ve not noticed obvious movement when snugged down. If you desire to regularly swap between other pistols and change keys, the C-ring on the mount screw can be a bother to remove-replace. Not like the TLR-1 series that is pretty simple by using the hex screw. I snug this finger tight and during practice sessions it has not backed out. The 125 lumen seems low compared to some offerings though quite usable. I might wish for a bit more in the 150-175 lumen range with a similar beam pattern if not making this a 123 battery size. Yes that battery would increase the size slightly. Mainly because I don’t use CR2 batteries often and local stores inventory is minimal. Being able to swap power sources from other devices makes it easy. (Think of your bug out bag, what batteries are more common uses…123 right?) I like the weight with the composite body. As much as the TLR-1 series is great though for some shooters like my wife, the balance of that light takes some getting used to. This TLR-3 doesn’t make the pistol seem as muzzle heavy so she finds the balance quite good. Her hands are smaller than mine so a support hand thumb actuation is more challenging. Wants: I wish that the keys might allow it to sit back 1/8″ more towards the trigger guard. Position isn’t far off though for my smallish hand size swiping it with the support hand thumb requires a slight hand position shift. I can still shoot the pistol in comfortable form though my preference would be just a bit more set-back. Overall pleased.

   First off, I read probably too many reviews on many Tac lights, so any purchase would make me feel reluctant because apparently all lights have downsides. That being said, this light is great especially if you’re a Glock owner or the owner of a full size gun. I wanted my light to be bright, turn on easily, match the finish of my gun, be compact in size, low on price (compared to $250 model we have all looked at), and still be good quality. Tall order, but this light has pulled it off. To start, streamlightoutlet.com gets it to my house fast, as expected. I opened the packaging. I read the instructions. Noticed the sticker on the light that read “Do not over tighten. Use a coin to tighten.” I knew this after all the reviews that said the light broke right away. A few people said they followed instructions and it still broke. I don’t believe them. I think they over tightened. It took me 1-2 minutes to get the right key picked out. Put the key in, put it back together, put it on the rail, and tightened it down. I tightened only with my fingers until it was snug. If you look at the design of the Glock Tac light, you will notice that it doesn’t even have a screw to attach. It just has a spring loaded bar that drops into the rail groove. So, it doesn’t need to be torqued down, just somewhat snug. I left mine loose enough that you can barely slide the light down the rail maybe .015″ easily. Doesn’t rattle or vibrate or fall off when fired. No coin was used, let alone screwdriver. Fits great, works great, and so far seems durable.

    Compact, easy-on & easy-off, bright light with a strong core pattern (no dead spots), solid construction, and all a good price. I love it. Bought a few. Far superior to the “Glock OEM Tac Light Xenon 6V Lithum.” I love Glock (have been shooting them for decades), so no “hater” here. But their flashlight sucks. Dim yellow bulb, dead spot on the center, and the whole unit has a longer over-all length (OAL) than this Streamlight TRL-3. I’ve tested this light on a long-slide Glock, compact Glock, HK VP9, and CZ P-09. Works great on all of them. Just swap-out the adapters. One minor complaint: The switch rocks both ways, but only locks one way. It’s definitely meant for a right-hand shooter to put activate the switch by pushing down on the right side lever. Pushing up on the left side lever is not ergonomic nor intuitive. Bought one for a CZ P-09 and one for an HK VP9. See the attached picture for how the light looks on a VP9. Also, I compared the Streamlight 69220 TLR-3 with the Streamlight 69260 TLR-1 and you can see the result below (the TLR-1 is on the left and slightly brighter, and the TLR-3 is on the right). For a compact pistol I’d go with the TLR-3. For a full-size or long-slide pistol, I’d go with the TLR-1.

    Great light, but not a lot of holsters advertise compatibility specifically to the TLR-3. Because of the square projection on the bottom, this light will NOT fit into holsters designed to hold a pistol with Streamlight’s TLR-1. Fortunately, it can fit into holsters designed for larger lights, like Safariland’s 6230 series.
