   Unlike the Protac models, which have voltage regulation so the brightness remains close to the advertised level for some length of time, Streamlight has decided the Junior series should be the sort of flashlight which immediately and quickly starts losing its brightness from the second it turns on, and drops to half within the first 15 minutes. After 90 minutes it’s down to about a third of the advertised lumen rating and still dropping. Its average output over the 6 hour running time is more like 60 lumens. The color rendering isn’t terrible, but not great. This sort of thing is OK for cheap backup or occasional use flashlights as long as you know it will spend most of its life at lower output. I have 2 of the Propolymer 2aa model which are also unregulated but fine for random illumination under sofas or in closets. But the Junior model is nearly double the price of those, and is advertised as a whopping 225 lumens. And even though it has Streamlight printed on it, it’s 100% made in China. You can get a lot of good Chinese flashlights for the same price with constant light output and better LEDs. Streamlight has chosen to make this model their worst deal. It wasn’t always like this. Earlier Jr LED models were made better. But for the last 1 or 2 versions, Streamlight cut some corners to save a few cents.

   First off the Protac AA is by far the better light than this. I absolutely adore that light. This one at the time was a bit cheaper but it is china made and not as slim. Still a great light. Use them at work all the time for welding, and just about anything it is a great light to have on you belt they include a case. I still recommend the Protac 2AA over this hands down

   Just recieved mine today..wow! Been playing with it ever since..Plenty bright,feels solidly built/made..Now lets see if it can survive a weld/fabrication shop atmosphere..i will update once it gets some hardcore use 😁 4 stars for now

   Great flashlight. Just got to make sure the tops your batteries aren’t old and squashed in. There’s a thick rubber ring where the positive end makes contact. Guessing it’s so you don’t destroy it when you drop it.

    Super bright light, does go through batteries a bit fast tho.
