   I have had nothing but great experiences with it, including light throw (distance) and the battery has not failed yet. I haven’t had to replace the battery but accepts different 18650 batteries. (rechargeable)

   Not even 18 months after purchase, moderate usage, it won’t hold a charge. 20+hours on the charger, not even a flicker of light. If you like ‘em, keep buying ‘em. This light is surprisingly garbage. I didn’t think it would or could be. Sadly mistaken and $120 for a paper weight, is a little pricey.

   I seem to have a genuine product with all features and ten-tap programming working. Super bright light, with even perfectly circular beam. It has high intensity with lots of throw, while maintaining wide spill for excellent peripheral vision. When I charged the light, I used a wall surge protector with a built-in USB port that puts out 5V 2amp and connected the light with a fast-charge capable micro-USB cable – I got a full charge green-light indicator in less than 2 hours.

   People who are having trouble charging might not be using a power source that produces 5V 2amp (such as older computer USB ports, and older phone charge adapters) or are using non fast-charging micro-USB cables.

   I’m more used to compact ~5 inch length lights. This 7 inch length light is a little too big for my preference, but I’m getting used to it. I probably should’ve gotten the Protac HLX (1,000 lumens) which has the smaller ~5 inch length and is modified for slightly less output (but slightly more duration as it is using the same battery capacity).

   As a law enforcement officer working nights, good flashlights are invaluable. My previous flashlight (after 3 or 4 years) is failing. It was also a flashlight with usb charging. It was randomly cutting off. I looked up that manufacturer and found they went out of business. With streamlight, I doubt they will ever go out of business. This light is replacing that one and will be used on every shift multiple times per night. The Protac HPL usb took about 6 hours to charge out of the box. It is by far the brightest flashlight I’ve ever owned, and is small enough to still wear on my belt or clip on my vest. I’ve used the streamlight stinger for years and love them, but they’re just too big to carry on my belt or vest. The best part about this protac is the ease of charging. I have usb chargers everywhere and can easily charge it without having to have a large clunky stand-alone charger with me like the stinger series. The Stinger has its benefits, but the Protac will be my number 1 light. After using it, I will update this review as needed.

   This is my 5th Streamlight and I still have all the others (Different sizes and still working great). I have a farm and I am always out at night checking water and such. This light throws the center beam far and has the additional flood supporting the focused beam. For me, this allows me to see several rows over with focus, and lights up the areas around where I am looking. I love the fact that I can adjust the switch to repeat the brightness I want, and it returns exactly to the level out put I want every time. For my needs, this is the best light I have that is somewhat compact and extremely bright. They have come a long way with LED technology in the last 10 years, and this light shows that. I also like the fact that this light does a good job of staying cool for quite a while. I am only using it for 15 minutes or so at a time, and have had no issues with heat.

   I found this light to be of good quality. I would have preferred the light beam to be a little more focused. This light is pretty bright, it illuminates a fairly large area. If you need to get out in the dark for home defense or some other reason, I think one would be happy with the flood area of the light and the brightness. If you’re looking for a tightly focused beam with less flood area you may be a little disappointed.

   Some have reported problems with charging. I found that this light, for me, has had no problems being charged and holding a charge. I have used this light on max brightness for several minutes, 10 to 30 minutes, and have had no issues.

   This is the second one of these lights I have purchased. I lost the first and liked this light enough to buy a second one. I would recommend this light to most who need to get out in the dark and do whatever. In a situation where one may need to hold a firearm and a light at the same time, this light for some may be a tad long.

    I’m not sure about this flashlight yet. This is my second one in the last week. It says to FULLY charge before using. As with the first one, I’ve been charging the light for a full 3 days and the indicator light is still red. It’s supposed to change to green when fully charged. I’ve tried several different chargers, and I’ve tried talking to Streamlight tech about it. The last conversation he said I must use their Streamlight brand charger, which doesn’t make sense. The ones I am using have the same output rate as their brand. The guy on the phone said to hold a min while he gathered more info. While I was on hold it turned 5:00 eastern time. I was disconnected. When I called back, it just went to voicemail. I expected a lot more from a company like Streamlight, and a $120 flashlight. I also have the Protac HL 5-X and the TLR-2 HL G. I hope I haven’t made a mistake. Their description of the HPL says it will charge on ANY charger, even on your computer. It just warms the most computers have a low output for charging.

    Purchased this light to replace a Streamlight Stinger HL. Size wise it is a few inches shorter than the Stinger and a little more narrow. The light output is better than it was with my Stinger and the battery last longer at max brightness. I just made it through my 3rd 12 hour shift with this light. I work mostly at night and I use a flashllight quite frequently. I did not notice any difference in brightness from the beginning of my shift vs the end of my shift. Durability wise the light feels well constructed. The charging port would be the only vulnerability that I see. The cover for the charging port is stiff and won’t be accidentally opened and is sealed with and o-ring. The port itself is a micro usb so I could foresee charging issues in the future. The only switch on this light is on the tail cap. The light also accepts other brand 18650 batteries. I have tried a Samsung 18650 and a Nextorch 18650 and had perfect fucntion. Both of these battteries were shorter in length than the Streamlight battery that is included.

    I bought this flashlight because I needed one that was durable, and had a bright enough beam with a long enough throw that I could use it to inspect airliners at night. This flashlight, while pricy, does that job excellently. The battery life is great and I can go several nights without charging it, and the beam is very focused in the center meaning that it throws far enough that I can use it to inspect even the very tip of the tail of a 777. No complaints from me.

    I have had several Streamlights over many years and always liked them.
    However, the newer rechargeable with USB cable seems to be gathering too many complaints of full-charge problems.
    WHY IS IT that a heretofore ‘reputable’ company with so many (past) pleased customers seem to be kept in the dark about what specific 120V “wall wart” will be able to fully charge the cell, OR AT A MINIMUM reveal specs on just what it is going to require to do so? ‘COMEON STREAMLIGHT GET OFF YOUR CANS!

    I had the same exact flash light and purchased it a year ago. My USB PORT stopped working for a charge so I bought what I believed to be the same exact flash light. I feel I was ripped off. It is half as bright. I use this light for my job and the brightness is important to me so I’m extremely disappointed in the quality difference.
