   Not quite as nice of tail switch as the original polytac. While this new version can stand on its tail, the new higher end pieces make operating the switch a little bit harder when all you want to do is use the momentary on feature.

   I got this flashlight for the clip. I wanted to be able to have my light double as a headlamp for a hat bill. I did have to get a rubber band to increase the pressure on the clip to prevent it from falling off. With that being said it is great. The polymer is not as heavy as the metal lights and yet it is very durable. It also has a great texture which works great for greasy/ oily hands.

   I work in security and use my flashlight quite a bit. Comes in very handy having rechargeable batteries. I have two batteries and keep the spare one charged at all times to swap to if the first runs dead but so far I haven’t had to swap in the middle of a shift. Recommend a 3500 mah battery.

   I have had the flashlight for 30 minutes. I clipped it on my belt after testing. The flashlight snagged on the armrest of my chair and bet the clip. The body of the flashlight feels solid for being made out of plastic. The flashlight itself is rather bright.

   I’ve been a Streamlight customer for several years. Always enjoyed the quality, durability, and value. Usually their quality is inline with the cost however this has obviously changed. Upon inserting the battery and screwing on the head, I noticed it felt “crunchy” and would not screw down fully. It was NOT cross threaded. As you can see by the picture, there is an aluminum tube in the body. The top of this tube is supposed to interface with the spring retaining collar on the head to create a secure fit. The tolerances in my flashlight were sloppy and created lots of tiny aluminum shavings as the head tried to seat into the tube. The switch was also not the quality I would expect either. I can confirm the spongy feeling expressed by other reviewers as well. I thought I might have received a counterfeit but I don’t believe so. This was sold and shipped from streamlightoutlet.com, all packaging seemed original, unit did function albeit briefly, battery and even USB cable are correctly branded. Once the battery was fully charged and inserted into the flashlight, it did not turn on. Yes, polarity was correctly observed. This was a huge let down. Either I got a fake or Streamlight has cut corners in their production and is no longer producing the quality hardware they’re known for. Which is a shame because I wanted to support an American company. There is no excuse why we can’t build the same quality stuff they build in China. And there’s no excuse why streamlightoutlet.com and other retailers can’t get control of their supply chains and prevent counterfeit goods from being sold. I returned this defective light and purchased an Olight instead. My most recently purchased Streamlight MicroStream also had switch issues.

   Performs as advertised but takes time to learn the programming. The battery requires 5 hrs to fully charge but the USB micro charger is welcome over regular lithium non-rechargeables. I have yet to see the medium light setting but prolly won’t go lower than high. The light fits snugly into the molded holster and there’s no worry of it popping out. I look forward to putting it through it’s paces.

    Got it cause i work on a farm and to keep on bedside table in case i need a light quickly. It’s been great so far. Really tough, light and small enough that you barely notice it in your jacket pocket. The clip works really well at keeping it secure either inside or outside of your pants pocket. The three different brightness mode is amazing when you’re trying to see what’s going on out in the field and really need to light up a whole area. For 600 lumens, it’s VERY bright. Would totally buy again.

    I have a Polytac original 600 but needed another one so bought the X version. I liked the dual way clip on the Polytac X plus the rechargeable option so decided to pick this one up but the button is terrible, its okay for momentary use but to click it on and off is super hard compared to my normal Polytac. Im guessing the thought behind it is to prevent accidentally turning it on but they definitely missed the mark. Should have just made the original Polytac with the dual way clip and dual fuel and it would be perfect. Ended up returning and buying another regular Polytac. If the button on this wasn’t terrible it would have been perfect.

    La duración es muy buena, 5 horas alternando a baja y media potencia, cargas la batería en poco rato porque se ha gastado muy poco.

    Volevo una torcia tascabile di back up alla mia ormai datata Surefire e mi sono orientato verso questo marchio. La torcia è potente e leggerissima, la batteria ci mette un poco a caricarsi, ma in compenso poi dura almeno mezza giornata o più di uso non continuativo. Il corpo in polimeri è piacevole al tatto e appare robusto. nell’insieme sono molto soddisfatto.

    A modern classic of a flashlight – easy to use and works well. If you could only have just the one flashlight to do everything, this would be a close contender. Have been using a Nitecore 18650 with no issues. Only caveat is that the light is a cool white and I would have preferred a warmer colour, but this is just a quibble.

    This is my second Polytac. I’ve been using the first one for around 8-10 years at work. It still works fine and I really like it. The only reason I bought this new one is that LED flashlight technology has advanced a lot since then and the new flashlight is much brighter. My old Polytac is 2 generations older than this new one. I got the Polytac X without the rechargeable batteries. I removed the belt clip. The belt clip breaks when you remove it, so make sure you don’t want it before taking it off. The flashlight is light weight and impressively bright. I am impressed with its power. I am satisfied with this purchase, but I’m giving it 4 stars instead of 5 because there are a couple of things that could be better. The most significant is the tailcap button. Compared to other similar flashlights, this button is uncomfortable and difficult to activate. There are guards around the tailcap that are obviously designed to prevent accidental activation. Unfortunately it makes intentional activation difficult. The switch on my old Polytac is much easier to access and press. My second complaint is less significant. This flashlight allows you to easily program what it does when you press the switch numerous times rapidly. I just wish it gave us more than 3 programming options. I would prefer the option of simply Hi/Low and skip the strobe setting. But this isn’t a deal breaker. I use an old Surefire flashlight holster (see attached picture). Those holsters are great, so I want to keep using it. My old Polytac fits perfectly in this, but the new one is a little loose. I fixed that problem by putting a thin strip of duct tape around the base of the flashlight. Now it locks in securely. Duct tape is the solution to many of life’s problems. This isn’t a complaint, because you can’t expect Streamlight to account for a Surefire holster. I’m just sharing in case you like using the same holster. Considering the excellent reliability of my old Polytac, I assume that this will be a good performing long term tool. In spite of my minor complaints, this Polytac is a good choice. ** Update in 8/16/2018 After using this flashlight for another week, I don’t think I can deal with the tailcap issue. I struggled to activate the light quickly because the tailcap button is so squishy. Either this is a design flaw or mine is defective. I contacted streamlight and they told me to return it to streamlightoutlet.com because I’m within the 30 day purchase window. So I deducted a star and sent this one back. I ended up getting a Surefire instead. If it wasn’t for the tailcap issue, I would have been thrilled with the Streamlight.
