I live near Lake Erie. At the end of the property above the lake there is a 1/3 mile long winding path from the edge of the property to the lake front along a creek. I need a bright, durable, dirt proof and water resistant flashlight because it's incredibly dark at night on the path to the lake. I've researched all brands of flashlights and have owned a wide variety of brands from the cheap 2 for $20 streamlightoutlet.com "specials" to $50 Mag Lights to a $100 Sure Fire flashlight. None of them have met my requirements and I've ruined all of them over time. I spent hours researching hand held lights and saw this model in one of the reviews. Here's why this particular light meets my needs: -LONG battery life on high beam, over 2 hours at 4200 lumens with the rechargeable batteries over an hour at 3200 lumens with Lithium 123 batteries. Some of the other high end lights like Olight that have 2-3 minutes on high beam with their OEM rechargeable batteries. -"Dual fuel" - this light can use four 123 lithium batteries or the OEM rechargeable batteries. The 123's aren't as bright as the OEM rechargeable batteries but they still provide excellent output while the other batteries are recharging. See the photo - the 123's are NOT included but they are readily available, cheap, last 10 years on a shelf and are excellent back up batteries -Dirt and sand proof, water resistant. I read a 1 star review whining about the lack of an external USB charging port and having to charge the batteries instead. That is actually a strong positive for me. An external USB port provides a very vulnerable entry point for dirt and water and the rubber USB port covers ALWAYS come loose and vanish. Recall that I'm using this light on a beach at night and the moisture and sand have killed many other lights in short order. -Top rate machining. This Streamlight torch is well made. The threads are precisely cut, it uses a silicone O ring on the batter cap and the switch also has a silicone cover - see the close up photos. -Three "ten tap" settings. You can change the light settings with ten button pushes to either High, Strobe, Low, High, medium and low or high only -Lower cost than most premium flashlights that allows for the purchase of 2 extra OEM rechargeable batteries that are readily available with Prime shipping that make this light the same price as many other lights with just 2 rechargeable batteries Areas of improvement: -It could use a "lockout" button so the light cannot be accidentally activated in a back pack or day pack Overall, this Streamlight model has met all my needs in tough conditions that include constant exposure to sand, dirt, moisture and water. Hope this helps!

I like the yellow one with double sided clip best, but these are great, also. I have used them often to ward off aggressive dogs and a few drunk jerks. The default setting is High, strobe high, low. You can tap 10x and hold it till it shuts off, to cycle other modes such as high only or low, no strobe, high. Great for work inspections, mechanical inspections in boat and ULGE engines, checking on properties to prevent vagrants, going on ghost tracking and rain soaked hikes back to base. I mounted 1 on a 5 pump, and it's survived, but it's not marketed for that and needs a stronger front spring for that or it flashes sometimes with original spring. I recommend demonfire 18650s in rotation, and a spare walking light.

Have to plug it in to get it out of the “try me mode”

I just ordered this light a month ago and finally got around to installing it. Unfortunately I am outside the return window by a week or I would be sending this back. Immediately I noticed the rubber cover for the button housing was loose and not properly seated. Taking a closer look at it you can see the rubber is torn, most likely this is why its not seated properly, Images will not reflect the tear as it would require trying to seperate the rubber lip to demonstrate it. I decided alright no big deal I'll just use the light anyway, I go to install the pressure switch. Doesn't work because the bottom metal clip is broken off. Save your money, stay far away from this light. *Update* After a lengthy battle with streamlightoutlet.com support, after 5 representatives. streamlightoutlet.com was unable to provide a working solution to resolving the issues I ran into. However I took it upon myself to reach out to the manufacturer via their website and they have offered to send me the replacement parts. This was completely of their own volition and unexpected. I am thrilled Streamlight has made right by this. However with that said to the 5 representees I spoke with from streamlightoutlet.com, your responses we completely unacceptable and lack luster. None of the 5 people, emails included were able to even edit the template responses. They copy pasted every response back to me and could not be bothered to edit the template with my relevant info. Furthermore, streamlightoutlet.com wanted to charge me to handle the issues, Streamlight took it upon themselves to just send me the replacements. streamlightoutlet.com additionally wanted me to return over $400 dollars in additionally purchased items just to remedy what could have been a simple fix. I would highly encourage anyone reading this to purchase direct from Streamlight as they actually care about their customers, where as streamlightoutlet.com could not be bother to even remedy the situation appropriately.

I love this like have it on my fire helmet and beats out all the other lights on the department!

A well made durable holster with a removable clip. While the clip is nice it's just a bit too snug to fit my thick tac belt securely. (See pic) I am sure it will need replacing at some point and it's modular design is a nice touch but I would have preferred a nylon strap with a snap. I had to remove the metal clip from the light to get the correct fit in the holster. Some have said the clip is flimsy and easily broken but I had little trouble removing and preserving the o-ring.

My previous antiroll ring on my streamlight broke, and this was the perfect replacement at a decent price.

The instructions were to remove the paper before use. What it should have said was remove the metal plate before use. The magnet is protected by a rubber pad and then a metal plate. The metal plate has a sticker that was impossible for me to remove without a glue remover. Once the metal plate with the sticker on it and the rubber below the metal plate is removed, it will work great.

I have had the flashlight for 30 minutes. I clipped it on my belt after testing. The flashlight snagged on the armrest of my chair and bet the clip. The body of the flashlight feels solid for being made out of plastic. The flashlight itself is rather bright.

Im a field supervisor at the airport in charge of fleet transportation, and out of all the flashlights I've been through, coast, surefire, husky, Milwaukee, Duracell, etc. The streamlight has been the best in my opinion. I have dropped it many, many times, fell in water, even a bus ran it over, and it still running like a champ. It doesn't flicker or fade out like others, and battery life is excellent. Plus the kit comes with 2 batteries and an awesome wall charger. Also the strobe light on this flashlight is EXCELLENT for warning other vehicles, and heavy machinery. HIGHLY RECOMMEND.

only came with 1 battery and already had a stripped screw

This light is small, bright, water proof, and accepts common 18650 lithium cells(as long as they're button top). None of that stuff is unique, though. There are hundreds of other lights, many of which are significantly cheaper, that can make the same claims. The one thing this streamlight does, that no other manufacturer can claim, is go to dim first and bright second. This should be obvious, but the ability to go straight to the low setting on a very bright light is awesome. What if you need a little light, but you don't want to signal the iss with a blast of high-intensity led in the process? This light will do it. Thank you, streamlight.

Received the item which had previously been opened / used. Package was open and the tool was damaged due to someone over tightening the screw. Functions properly so far.

Huge amount of light and does a better job of penetrating, of course, than incadescents. Noticebly more candlepower than the Survivor 6 3/4" Streamlight. Only thing I would mention is that the tailcap came unscrewed on me, causing the light to flicker. Correctable with a little teflon tape on the threads. I've posted a picture with the Streamlight Rubber Helmet Strap - great product for the price but it will most certainly melt in high heat.
