  • Bought this “used-good condition” from streamlightoutlet.com. I received it in as-new condition with open package but missing one battery. My guess is that someone got frustrated with the ten-tap and returned it. Overall great purchase, great price. If I found three more on sale, I’d buy them all. Brightness excellent. Comparable to a 700 lumen light from another vendor. The hotspot is bright white, the spill is slightly more yellow green from the emitter. This is not noticeable on its own, but when compared to true white lights, it is just slightly off. Hotspot from 10 feet away is about 8 inches. There is a secondary (slightly yellow) ring spanning 3 feet, spill is 8.5-9 feet across. This isn’t a close quarters defensive light, but it could work. I’d recommend the standard head diameter for close-up work. I can easily light up a hillside and tufts of grass at the top of a hill roughly 60 feet away. I haven’t used it at longer distance, but it’s a better thrower than my G2X Pro, and great for a rifle. Construction is excellent. Removable pocket clip. Material feels similar to a G2 Nitrolon body, although slightly harder feeling. Ten Tap was a pain at first, but after watching a YouTube video, it became second nature. I would buy again. If deciding between this and a surefire G2X Tactical at the same price, I’d probably go with the surefire. Ten tap is nice, but I don’t need strobe, or a low setting. Surefire beam characteristics are better for up-close work. G2s have a textured reflector and aluminum head, and the beam color is slightly warmer. You won’t go wrong with either one.

  • Fits my Kimber Micro 9 after some minor modifications at the trigger guard. I installed it as received and noted that the aft end of the TLR-6 did not follow the contour of the lower rear edge of the trigger guard. I scribed along the required contour with a pocket knife, then removed it and sanded the plastic with some 220 grit sandpaper wrapped around a Sharpie. Photo shows the OEM condition before modification. Looks good now, but 4-stars for the hassle.

The pictures of the product shows complete lighthead assembly with rubber gasket. Instructions on product show complete head replacement. It is not you get bulb only. You don't even get the rubber gasket. Very disappointed. Will not buy again.

  • These are our 2 pups. We take them walking a lot after dark and these lights illuminate everything around them for maybe 15 foot. I think Steamlight should market these as dog lights as well as hardhat lights. We also use the bandit version on the front and front of our hats. Plus we carry steamlight strion flashlights. Needless to say we have no issues being seen.

  • Attached it to my 1911 and fired one magazine and halfway through the other the light dropped off. Found all the pieces and realized that the screw broke. I didn’t even tighten it that hard. Used my thumb then a quarter turn with a coin for snugness. Very disappointed. I have tlr 7a lights on my shorter barrel guns and they stay on perfectly. The tlr-9 might not be good for the metal frames.

If you're looking for the short and quick, buy this light! But here's the real review. This light has seen a lot of fire. From training to real life situations. It has been excellent. High quality and very robust. It has taken its fair share of hard hits and daily use. It has not failed me yet and I have no plans on replacing it. Only thing with this light and all helmet mounted lights is you blind the people you are looking at, I'm bad to forget and with this super bright light it's easy to destroy someone's night vision! Stay safe!

  • I bought this light after carrying the Streamlight ProTac 2L-X for almost 2 years. That light has never failed me and I wanted to try something a little brighter. The HL-X did not disappoint. It has been just as reliable and brighter. One thing to note, the beam has a tighter more concentrated hot spot. This is good for distance but not so much for close proximity. It also has a larger bezel and is 1/4” longer which takes up more pocket space. I still like the 2L-X for smaller rooms indoors. The HL-X is great for inside larger spaces or outdoors. If your trying to decide between the 2L-X or the HL-X, get both, but start with the 2L-X. Streamlight makes great reliable lights in my experience. Cheaper than surefire and takes 18650s. Pictures show a comparison of both lights and weights WITH identical 18650 batteries.

  • I gave 2 stars because I have 3 other Streamlight flashlights and they all work perfectly. I got one of these ones a few days ago, put two different sets of batteries in, and it refused to turn on, so I returned it. Thinking it was an isolated occurrence, I decided to buy another one, hoping it wouldn’t happen again. Yet, when I got home and tried to function check it, with the batteries it came with, again it didn’t turn on. After looking in the tube at the battery terminal, I found the exact same issue. I’m not sure if it’s specifically this lot of flash lights or if I just had bad luck twice in a row, but it is frustrating.

Only reason I’m not giving 5 stars is because I ordered a purple one and I got a black one

  • It lights up a broader area than it's little brother. Unlike it's little brother the battery is not removable, which is fine. It seems to me that the battery does not last as long as the little one. I'd say the battery lasts about 2-2.5 hours with full brightness before it dims. The smaller one folded fits in your pants back pocket.

Needed a second base, the original was modified to be a semi-permanent fixture in a 12volt vehicle application in the glovebox of my Tacoma build. Couldn't get it separate from a supplier fast enough - Had to buy

  • The charging port does not line up with the holes in the molding, and could not plug in the supplied charger. Although fast shipping and packaged well.

  • Just a little too short. So it doesn’t even turn on. Returning it

  • This thing is just as bright as my old 2 AAA Stream light. My old one is 9 years old and in my pocket almost every day. Would recommend for every day carry.
